Hoppy Paper Made from Malt Dregs
After making Hoppy, we are left with a lot of malt dregs, and we have previously reported that this is very useful as cattle feed. In addition, malt dregs are also used as fertilizer, etc., but now Hoppy Beverage has set up a new initiative to try and make paper from the malt dregs.
The result is a very nice Hoppy paper. The malt used to brew Hoppy is made by germinating barley seeds and then roasting them. Therefore, the malted barley remains with the husk attached to it. The brownish-brown husks are scattered on the paper in light shades. Its beautiful appearance makes it hard to believe that it was created from waste. The thickness of the paper can be varied, so it can be used to make notebooks, letterheads, envelopes, business cards, coasters, postcards, memo pads, paper boxes, and many other things.
Malt dregs would normally be disposed of as waste, but if they can be used in alternative ways, they can be put to use as a resource instead of becoming trash. Hoppy Beverage will continue to explore these possibilities.
