Reducing Carbon Emissions by Recycling Materials

Hoppy Beverage products, such as sours, are mainly distributed in PET bottles. By collecting and recycling these PET bottles we have reduced carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 18 tons per year.

In the product distribution stage various types of cardboard boxes are used, but these are also recycled through our collection system, resulting in a reduction of approximately 220 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year.

In addition, Hoppy's “one-way” bottles for household use are collected as glass waste, converted to cullet, and recycled as bottles again, resulting in an annual reduction of approximately 3,300 tons of CO2 emissions.

One-way bottles are transported to Hoppy from the glass factory. Brand new bottles are unloaded from a truck with a forklift, stacked on a pallet (suitable for moving with a forklift), and wrapped in plastic wrap. It is similar to the plastic wrap we use in the kitchen, but it is called stretch film and is mainly used to prevent falling bottles and is strong enough to protect the stack of bottles. After unloading, the wrap is no longer needed and is collected through a specialized recycle service. When this thin plastic wrap is collected and recycled, it further reduces carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 7.2 tons per year.

By reviewing all materials and recovering and reusing those that can be recycled, we can reduce carbon dioxide emissions. We are spreading this critical recycling eye to every corner of our work.
