セルジー・メイドコフはウクライナの首都キエフを拠点に活動するアーティスト。抽象化されたフォルムと豊かな色彩で描かれたイラストレーションで知られ、新聞や雑誌のほか、マクドナルドやブリュッセル航空といった企業の広告コラボレーションパートナーに抜擢されるなど幅広い創作活動を展開。今作は緑のカーテンのように海沿いの欄干をつたうホップ、ホッピーを片手に麗らかな春の海を眺めるイメージで制作。「近代と伝統の要素を絶妙に掛け合わせて物事をつくり出すことができる日本人の感性に響くよう、デジタルのようにもアナログのようにもみえる作品を目指した」と語る。
The illustration for April 2018 was done by Sergiy Maidukov, an artist based in Kiev, Ukraine. His illustration is known for the abstracted form with rich colors. He has not only collaborated his work with newspapers and magazines, but also been expanding his own creative activity through a PR collaborating partnership with McDonalds and Brussels Airlines. He created this art piece based off the image of looking at a spring ocean with Hoppy in a hand as ‘hop’ flutters on a coastal rail just like a green curtain. He mentions, “I created this art in order to reach Japanese people, who can create works from blending modern times and traditional elements together exquisitely, and their sensitivity. My goal of this art was to make it look like digital work but analog at the same time.”
