2019年9月のカレンダーを手がけたアーティストは、リトアニアの首都ヴィリニュスを拠点に活動するレダ・トミンガス。イギリスの国際映画祭では「World Animation Award」を、リトアニア映画アカデミーでは「Best Animated Film Award of the Year」の賞を獲得する実力派です。独自のスタイルのアート作品は多方面から高い評価を受け、数々の子供用絵本やアニメーション映画の制作を手がけるなど幅広く活動しています。今作では、シロクマがホッピーボトルを大切に持っている姿と共に、夜の静けさの中でささやかな音が聞こえてくる様子を表現してくれました。「今回の作品作りを通して私の知らなかった日本の文化に触れることができた。」と語ってくれました。
The illustration for September was done by Reda Tomingas, an artist based in Vilnius, Lithuania. She has won several awards such as “World Animation Award” in Leeds International Film Festival (LIFE) and “Best Animated Film Award of the Year” in Lithuanian Film Academy. Her artworks are highly evaluated, and she’s been creating many children’s picture books and animation films. Reda created this month’s art piece with a polar bear holding a Hoppy bottle carefully and expresses how a small sound can be heard in the quiet night. She shared his thoughts, saying, “It was definitely fun to be able to draw the way I like and to have an animal as a character in the artwork. I also found out some things about the Japanese culture I had no idea about.”
